Audience: This activity is intended for healthcare professionals practicing in managed care environments.

Instructions for CME/NCPD: Complete the pre-test, listen to the audio and view the slides, complete the post test, complete the evaluation form and hit submit. You will be asked to enter your name and email address on the pre-test, evaluation and post-test. If you close your internet browser without completing the post test, you will have ONE more opportunity to complete. A score of 70% must be achieved on the post test to receive continuing education credits. If you do not pass the post test after two attempts, you will not be eligible to try again. Once you complete the evaluation form and score 70% or higher on your post test, you will automatically be given your certificate.

Closing Gaps in Adolescent Immunizations: Expert Perspectives for Improved Patient Outcomes

  1. Describe adolescent vaccine-preventable conditions
  2. Examine recent guideline and recommendation updates on adolescent immunizations
  3. Identify adolescents who are at increased risk for vaccine-preventable diseases and thus should be vaccinated
  4. Assess the latest clinical guidelines regarding the timing of HPV immunizations in preteens, teens and young adults
  5. Integrate strategies to overcome perceived barriers to HPV vaccination in the adolescent setting

Closing Gaps in Adult Immunizations: Overcoming Barriers to Effective Practices

  1. Describe common barriers to effective immunization practices among diverse patient populations
  2. Examine current adult vaccination recommendations for the influenza; pneumococcal; tetanus toxoid, reduced diphtheria toxoid, and acellular pertussis (Tdap); and herpes zoster vaccines
  3. Provide recommendations for vaccinations in adult immunocompromised patients
  4. Explore recent updates in pneumococcal vaccinations among adult patients
  5. Employ the recommendations for the influenza vaccine to optimize immunization efforts and decrease the cost burden of influenza and its complications
  6. Identify strategies to address common barriers and misperceptions to effective immunization practices
